When I first glanced upon this product, I thought it was some sort of nail polish because of the bottle. Lolz. I opened it and saw that it was a very fine powder with hints of cream and very subtle gold. The color was excellent for highlighting the corners of the eyes to make your eyes pop with life. Supermodels have used this product to enhance their nose lines applying it on the bridge of the nose making it look more contoured. Another use of this product is above the cleavage to make it look lifted as well. For the most part however, i use this on the brow bones just below my eyebrows. Listen not only to your feelings but to reason as well. Always remember that if you lose someone today, it means that someone better is coming tomorrow: If you lose love that doesn't mean that you failed in love. Cry if you have to, but make it sure that the tears wash away the hurt and the bitterness that the past has left with you. Let go of yesterday and love will find its way back to you. First of all, this is not in support of any vice presidential candidate. It is merely my opinion. I am watching a show called Harapan with Ted Failon wherein the vice presidential candidates of the Philippines are asked to debate and answer questions.

A school teacher from the Eta province in the North asked what can the candidates do to help the teachers and students in the remote areas of the Philippines to provide the quality education that these Filipino children are entitled to.
Some candidates are very convincing with their answers and some were not able to express their point well enough, though if studied beyond the way it was delivered, would stand to be an insightful answer. One of these candidates was Atty. Yasay.

Attorney Yasay brought to light a very good point in my opinion, in the philippine education system, students are taught to look for employment after graduation, they are trained how to make resumes, how to answer interviews, etc. I am speaking from experience. A good portion of my 5th year as an engineering student was spent on doing just this. I remember back then, I came to a point where I was asking, why the school and our professors perceived everyone wanted to be an employee after we graduated.Why weren't we being taught how to solicit funds for a start-up business. We weren't taught which agencies would finance small businesses. There was no business administration subject. Not one.
My point here is, why aren't we being taught skills in creative thinking, entrepreneurial skills, business skills, skills that will enable us to uplift ourselves instead of giving us a subservient mentality. Here are more examples of what I mean when I say we are thinking less instead of thinking and dreaming bigger.

In our country, a course in Tourism is equated to wanting to become a future flight attendant. This is WRONG. A course in Tourism entails a career in diplomacy and ambassadorship, foreign trade, and foreign policy. NOT to become a flight attendant. Our minds are conditioned to think small. If you survey college students why they took this course, that is what they will answer. How do I know? I have interviewed many students, especially pageant candidates who are supposed to be the creme of the crop of our students with their beauty, talent, and intelligence. If our so-called intelligent students are thinking this way, dreaming this small, how much less does this entail for the majority of our students?

In our country, a course in HRM means learning to become service crews in the big hotels and restaurants in the world. How to serve. Where is the entrepreneurship and creative thinking in that? It's a course in management which means after you get a degree in this course, you should have the skills necessary to start up and manage your own hotel or restaurant, know how to get the funds and support to get it started and running, or at the very least MANAGE the big hotels and restaurants. Not simply become a service crew, earn dollars, and stop there.

In my own case, an engineer means getting a job in a factory in an economic zone to test the quality of finished products. We studied 5 years to test capacitors if they're working or not? To compare the colors and bands on these simple little devices? 1 day of training is enough for that. Of course this is not where 100% of engineers go, but a good portion of those who can only afford to study in not-so-popular schools end up doing this. To top it off, the starting salary per month is a measly $260 per month.

It's frustrating to watch the potential of our students go to waste with the small thinking of our educational institutions.
Why aren't our educational institutions thinking big for us? Why aren't we being equipped with the knowledge to uplift ourselves? Do we have to settle for less than what other people in other countries settle for? Do we always have to be the ones who serve other people? We are wasting the brain capacity, the talent, the perseverance, and the hard earned money the families of our students are striving to provide them with thinking that their kids would get good education. I know of some families who have sold all their possessions like all their cows, hogs, crops, and what little land they have just so they can provide their children with what they think is quality education.

What is the result of this poor education system? It robs our youth of hope, it robs them of the ability to think bigger, it robs them of their full potential, it robs them of a future they might otherwise have. It keeps us simple minded resulting in a monkey-see, monkey-do attitude as observed by an American-Pinoy friend of mine. And yes, I agree with him. The country becomes gullible.People stop thinking for themselves. They stop analyzing. They stop asking questions. Everything remains as shallow as it could be.

Speaking of asking questions, in Philippine schools, why is it that students do not ask questions??? This scenario was in my 5th year college days. A professor asked me to classify flash memory as either a ROM or RAM. It was part of a homework and when we got to class, there was a follow-up graded recitation where we were not allowed to look at the homework we did the previous night to test if we were really the authors of our own homework. The professor called on me. Now he didn't know it but half the class photo-copied my homework. So I answered his question and explained that the architecture of a flash drive is based on ROM architecture. He went out of the classrooom and when he came back. He said I was wrong. Since half the class had my homework in hand, they knew what was in my research. The other half who didn't copy from me also came up with the same answer. Flash is based on ROM. We all know that RAM is a processor, not a storage device so classifying a flash memory as RAM is more than stupid especially for a college professor!

He gave me a 75% on my homework. After he left, I asked all my classmates what answer they had. They ALL had the same answer as me but not one questioned the professor. Not one raised their hand to object or ask a question. These are 22-23 year old graduating students for crying out loud!

This same scenario happened to me in 5th grade. I was in the US and I raised my hand to answer a question. A fellow Pinay student who was seated beside me put my hand down and told me not to ever raise my hand because she never raised her hand.
If I was imaginative enough I would say it's mass brainwashing to keep our nation down.

My question is why do we have this behavior in our nation of thinking small? Why is nothing being done about it? Does nobody notice it? Why are our own educational system keeping us down? Why aren't we being taught to fight for what's right? Why are students afraid to ask questions? Why are students afraid to raise their hands in the first place? What sort of message is this kind of educational culture cultivating in us as a nation?

Below are some make up tips for sensitive skin:

Choose powder

Powder cosmetics are much less likely to cause problems for women with sensitive skin than their liquid counterparts. Most mineral make up are in powdered form.

Toss your old and expired cosmetics

Oh please, please... throw your old and expired cosmetics even if you just used it for a short span of time, it may worsen your skin problem.

It is always best to check the label

Dermatologists recommend daily use of a broad-spectrum sunscreen with a Sun Protection Factor (SPF) 15 or higher. For women with sensitive skin, this sunscreen should only contain the physical sunscreen ingredients zinc oxide or titanium dioxide.

Use products that contain no more than 10 ingredients; the fewer ingredients in a product, the less likely it is that the product will cause a problem. Many manufactures now make foundations with an SPF factor of 15 or higher; check the labels.

Don't share your make ups and brushes

It is very hygienic not to share cosmetics with other. It's a must to prevent spreading dirt and to avoid skin allergies.

As the founder of a web store, I get to try a lot of the products I carry. But since there’s so many, they can easily pile up on my “must try” list. Last month however, I ran out of my trusty simple ol’ eyeliner. If you’re like me, sometimes you splurge, sometimes you opt not to. It just so happened that we were about to run out of stock of Benefit’s Bad Gal Waterproof eyeliner. There was only one left. Now, this product usually sits for no more than a few days on our shelves. So upon visiting our “makeup vault” I was surprised to see there was one left. I almost heard it call out my name.
A day passed and I was still thinking about it. I wondered how a product as simple as eyeliner can be so in-demand. And today, it was still there. I asked the shipment personnel if there was an order for it, she said none so far but she doesn’t expect it to stay at the store room for long.
Another day passed. This eyeliner is starting to haunt me. Loyal customers and friends have bought this from me, yet I haven’t tried it. I see that it won a Beauty Award from a very popular magazine or two. What’s in this eyeliner? Why is this so special? I can’t imagine how different it can be from the rest. So I finally told the accounting staff, “Please put this on my tab...”
After that, I tucked it away in my ever-so-full makeup kit, which is making my shoulder bag truly heavy, giving me stiff necks and aching shoulders. I used it the next night, and the day after that, and the next...
Here’s my experience with Benefit’s Bad Gal Waterproof Eyeliner:
1) The Perfect Shade of Black. I used to try and find the perfect eye shadow color, contour, and blending scheme that would bring out my eyes. It’s a never-ending search. But when I used this eyeliner, I understood why it didn’t remain on our shelves for very long. The black was a perfect shade of jet black. It’s black but not too matte nor glossy. It’s a perfect compliment for anyone’s eyes. But if you’re looking for a burlesque look, consider liquid eyeliners. It’s perfect for evenings out.
2) Texture to Ogle Over. Oh the texture was wonderful! It provided ease of application so my dry, wrinkle-prone skin was safe since I didn’t need to layer it over and over again; hence there was no need to stretch my eye area in an exaggerated way like I used to do with other eyeliners. It was fast and precise.
3) Built to Last. Want to truly test what you’ve got? Wear it while playing beach volleyball in the middle of summer or do like I did. I took it scuba diving! After hours of rubbing my eyes and putting my scuba mask on and off going 60 Ft underwater and back to the surface for a whole day, what was the verdict? True to its promises, it did not smudge nor flake off! I did notice it wasn’t as black as when I first applied it. Maybe it did flake off a little but the flakes certainly did not stay on my under eyes nor cheeks. My eyes were still neatly lined. Any runoff from the product was nearly unnoticeable unless of course you study it closely in front of a mirror. Reapplication needed when under strenuous activities? Perhaps, but not necessary.
4) Intuitive? I wouldn’t go as far as to call this magic eyeliner, but the formula seems to be intuitive. It knows how to be just what you need it to be. For example, the way it doesn’t smudge when you rub your eyes, but it does smudge when you use the smudger. Or the way it flakes off throughout the day nano-particle by nano-particle that it seems unnoticeable and leaves you looking as perfect as you did hours ago. Further, those flakes are nowhere to be seen on your face. Your bags and cheeks remain flawless. I have tried waterproof eyeliners that do flake off and those flakes landed on my cheekbones. Eck!
5) Worth the price? The reason I didn’t include this product right away in my “must try” list was because I didn’t believe in a pencil costing as much as lipstick or more. But the truth is, after having tried this product; it’s really well worth the price. Especially if I don’t have to sit in front of a mirror all day trying to mess with a bunch of eye shadows figuring out how to bring out my eyes while looking effortless. Whew, that was a mouthful! I only usually splurge on foundation, blush, mascara, and primer. But realizing what an excellent eyeliner can do turned me into an eyeliner junkie. =D

Global Recession - An Opportunity

Starting the last quarter of 2008, talk about banks closing due to derivatives and other non-liquid assets spurred the beginning of the so-called recession we are now experiencing. For first world countries, this means cutting back on loans and non-liquid assets. For those who are not familiar with the term "liquid" as reference to a type of asset, here's an idea. Liquid assets are money, gold, foreign currency securities/stocks, which can easily be converted into money or the equivalent of it such as gold which is very very easy to sell. The key term is Money Market. But if your stock cannot be liquidated easily, then it's not liquid. Non-liquid assets are real estate, vehicles, antiques, and other assets that take time to convert into moohlah. One of the reasons banks gotinto trouble was they had too much non-liquid assets that they couldn't readily sell. They provided cash in the form of loans to people and businesses in exchange for collateral. The same with the housing market. The banks provided the needed cash to pay for the house, in turn the person now owes the bank with interest. Since houses are usually 25 years to pay, the banks really are not liquid. They own your house until you've fully paid for it. Foreclosure anyone? Repossesion? That's what happens when you don't pay up the bank. Too much loans. Student loans, business loans, investments, commodities, futures, the whole enchilada of investment products, and types of loans. The result? Not enough cash flow, hence, the shrinkage, hence, the downfall of the mighty bank. I've been hearing on the news that it was derivatives that put banks in trouble but I would second guess that idea. Although, I do admit I am not an expert on all types of derivatives. But I am an expert on stocks and forex. I found this very simple definition of derivatives on Yahoo Finance for reference:Derivatives is a generic term for a variety of financial instruments. Unlike financial instruments such as stocks and bonds, a derivative is usually a contract rather than an asset. Essentially, this means you buy a promise to convey ownership of the asset, rather than the asset itself. The legal terms of a contract are much more varied and flexible than the terms of property ownership. In fact, it's this flexibility that appeals to investors. "A good toolbox of derivatives allows the modern investor the full range of investment strategy" and "the sophisticated management of risk," according to the derivatives specialists at NumaWeb. So in short, you're not really buying anything. It's just a "promise to buy" and as an investor you hope that the value of this promise goes high enough so you can sell it at a profit. But of course the price can go up and down. This promise is a contract and depending on how long that contract is, you can either win or lose money. Derivatives can be bought (long position) or sold (short position). Unlike stocks where you can only buy and if you decide to stop holding a stock, you simply liquidate it. Now how can banks be affected by this you ask? It is the banks that enable investors to buy forex, derivatives, UITF, futures, and other investments that need banks to clear these transactions. With stocks however, you only need a broker and the exchange such as PSE or NYSE in the US. Usually, banks also act as brokers. Derivatives have different types (futures, options, swaps, forwards). Remember, whatever type it is, you are buying the contract of "promise to buy or sell." If everyone pacticed the traditional way of investing, the banks wouldn't lose. BUT, people are intelligent. Hedge funds and general hedging was born. People don't want to bet on whether something will go UP or DOWN, they want to make money. They will find ways to make sure their capital is preserved and increased. The news blame derivatives because it is through derivatives that money managers safeguard and increase the value of money. HEDGING! Simply ingenius!
Now they want to introduce derivatives to the Philippines. Wow, maybe they see investor potential here.
I say this is an opportunity because stocks are down and Treasury bills are being offered. Forex and Futures are good, but not when the money market is in turmoil. The volatility alone can kill you in forex. Volatility means the speed and amount at which the rates go up and down. The more movement, the more volatile a currency pair becomes. Stocks and T-bills are recommended in bear markets. Bear market and bull market are the terms used to describe the atmosphere instock investing. Bull means aggressive trading where everyone wants to buy stocks. Bear means the investors and traders DO NOT want to buy stocks, they want to liquidate their stocks for fear the value will go down more. So in a recession, we are in a bear market. As the great Warren Buffet would suggest; It is in the bear market where you should buy stocks. Buy cheap, sell high. A bear market will not always be around. Take advantage of it when it is. It's very difficult to find the "right" stock in a bull market as many stocks are overvalued. Not to mention all the bulls are hovering around the market.

Product Review - Foundation - Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Makeup

If you're like me, you're the kind of girl who wants your face to look absolutely perfect. You want to cover your flaws but you don't want to look like you've covered your face with so much foundation it looks about ready to peel off. In fact, you want it to look like you didn't exert any effort at all and you just look absolutely smashing without even trying. You want to give the impression that it's God given beauty and you don't need makeup to look prettier than say Elizabeth Hurley or Kristin Kreuk.

I have tried plenty of foundations out there. Just to give you an idea, I have tried Smashbox High Definition Foundation, Almay with Kinetin, Maybelline 3 in 1 Express Foundation Stick, Elizabeth Arden Sponge-on Cream Makeup, Elizabeth Arden Flawless Finish Dual Foundation, Christian Dior (I forgot the exact foundation coz it was way back in 2003), a whole range of M.A.C foundations because it was always what makeup artists used on me, Neutrogena Skin Clearing Foundation, Neutrogena Wet/Dry Foundation, Clarins AutoFocus True Radiance Foundation, Lancome Photogenic, Lancome the Wet/Dry Whitening kind in the blue compact, Beaubelle (a Swiss brand that Spas use), Shu Uemura, Shiseido ...need I go on?

Call me foundation girl. Can't leave the house without it. Can't stick to one product. Always trying to find the perfect foundation . Always searching for the foundation that will never cake, dig into the laugh lines, look good on camera and photos, make me glow but not look oily, in other words perfect in every way. Of course my expectations are virtually impossible. How can I have a J.Lo glow and have matte skin? Yep, that's how crazy I am about this foundation issue.

There is one, however that gives me just the right amount of 'glow' without making my face sticky to the touch in this humid country. It was my first foundation when I was in Junior High School. It's quite popular and I can appreciate why. Neutrogena Healthy Skin Liquid Foundation. It doesn't cake but you should be careful on the amount of loose powder you put on top of it. Not too much. Too little or none is fine if you don't have oily skin. But if you don't want that really matte look, then don't put too much. It doesn't absorb light so your face won't look like the life was sucked out of it. It also doesn't reflect too much light so don't expect the J.Lo glow. But for everyday foolproof use, I would recommend this product. If you want more glow try Neutrogena Visibly Even. For a more matte effect try Neutrogena Skin Clearing Foundation. But I have to say the Healthy Skin line hit the bull's eye when it comes to balance in everyday use.

To be fair, all the other foundations I mentioned above are not bad. They have specific specialties. For example, Shiseido has the most coverage. A little goes a long way. So on days when my skin is acting up with acne marks and I have to face a lot of people or the camera, I would opt for that one. For dates that will last till the wee hours of the morning, the Elizabeth Arden Dual Foundation blends so beautifully. You will get that creamy complexion as the minutes pass. But wait for it to blend, at first it doesn't look special. The High Def one from Smashbox is probably supposed to give that glowing look, but up close in the mirror all I see is an oily face even if I'm not oily. I think it will work best when used with Makeup Forever's High Def Loose Powder. But alone, I sort of didn't like all that 'glow.' I'll have to test it on camera & photos to see the real outcome. The smell of Smashbox's High Def Foundation reminds me of industrial-strength paste. Not glue. Paste. No offense Smashbox. I love your primer. The foundation just doesn't smell good. Peace. =)

Back to Neutrogena's Healthy Skin Makeup. For a special day such as Birthdays, Christmas Celebrations, even a romantic dinner with yor dream guy, I would recommend this foundation. It covers imperfections pretty well. the coverage is medium so your face is not totally covered. You have to layer it on a bit on zit marked areas. Still, it's the nearest I've seen to being klutz proof. It's hard to go wrong with it even if you're not very skilled at putting on makeup. Just make sure to add a little moisturizer or primer before you put it on so it'll be even more fool proof. And when putting on powder, try not to use a big fluffy powder brush if you're heavy handed. Use a fantail brush. Benefit cosmetics has an excellent fantail brush.
If you're not a makeup beginner and know how to put on makeup like a pro, you might still want to consider fool proof stuff on days you don't have a lot of time to make yourself up.

Are you too Shy to Tell Off a Guy? Here's Some Tips..

In this country, the Philippines, women empowerment is quite young compared to first world nations. Women in first world countries are usually more independent and have more power over their own lives.

Here are some situations and what you can do to get your power and respect back:

1) Situation #1: A guy walks up to you, asks your name and phone number but you don't want to give it.

What you can do is tell the truth. I'm sorry, I can't give you my number and just smile. You don't have to explain. Don't worry if you offend the guy. Don't worry about what other people might think of you. If they tell you you're a bitch, let them. Don't be affected. You don't have to prove yourself to them or to anyone. Always remember that what's important is you didn't do something you were being pressured or forced to do just because you care about what they feel. What about what you feel? You will feel a lot worse if you did give your number because then you will have to keep lying to avoid speaking or granting their invitations. Or worse, you do grant their invitation, only to hate yourself when youget home. Remember, grant yourself what you want instead of granting a stranger what they want.

2) Situation #2: A boss or client wants to go out with you in exchange of potential business.

Again, tell the truth at the first sign of an advance from him. You can say, "I'm sorry sir, I don't mean to offend you, or maybe it's just my imagination but I would appreciate it if you stopped the flirtatious jokes or references to anything other than business. I am deeply sorry if I am mistaken. I hope you understand." You don't have to bear these situations or put up with it. If your job requires you to flirt with men you don't want to, then maybe it's time to get another job if you value your morals more than your salary. You can also speak to your superior about it and ask themto handle the particular client. I know real estate agents and flight attendants encounter this scenario A LOT.

3) Situation #3: You are a young female boss, and in our country, even male subordinates don't respect female bosses as much as they respect the male bosses. Sometimes, and I have encountered this myself with a previous driver, they seem to not treat you with any respect at all and seem rather complacent if the boss is a young lady.

Let me tell you a story. I hired a driver from a province. After a meeting with the complete staff, including the driver, the driver honked at me with the whole staff watching. I immediately motioned for the driver to stop. I went up to him and said, "I may be nice, I may be younger than you, and I may be female, but I am still YOUR BOSS. Do not honk at me again." The key to not being treated like crap in this male ego dominated society is to not let them. I did not care how the driver may have been embarassed or how he might have felt. He committed some disrespect and should be reprimanded for it.

4) Situation #4: You are good at your job, but occassionally need consult for things that are outside your mental/job scope and the person you sought consult with totally treats you like a little girl whom he can play around with and makes advances.

This could happen to anyone. If you're an engineer, you might know squat about literature but you suddenlly need it for a project your boss assigned to you. So you seek help from a literature professor. He offers to help you with minimal fees and some perks like free access to his library or other perks. But when he talks to you, his colleagues and him would throw flirtatious or harassing statements at you. Now you need this professor and his colleagues to guide you throughout the year-long project. It's simple. Gain back the respect they took away from you the moment you came to them by teling them. This statement may be harsh but it's direct to the point. "Listen Mr. Professor and colleagues, I would rather you didn't give me any perks or discount for your services, than having to listen to the remarks you indirectly or directly throw at me." Men of course would say you are in over your head and it's just your imagination and they will keep denying it no matter what evidence you present. So you can follow up their denial by saying "It's fine if you don't want to acknowledge what you've been doing. I've presented the awkwardness that I've been feeling, whether or not it's my imagination, at least you'll know in the future that I don't appreciate comments like that. I would prefer if we kept things professional. Thank you very much for understanding and I sincerely appreciate your assisstance. Let's get back to work." You can tone it down but not too much or these hard-headed men won't get the message. I'm sure in their heads they will hate you for bruising their ego, but they will help you anyway because if they refuse that only proves they were guilty.

5) Situation #5: Your believe your co-worker, boss, or even classmate sexually harrassed you, touched you, or said some harassing statements to you like "nice butt", "nice boobs", or "i'd like to get you in bed", or other statements similar to those.

Girls, these ARE NOT COMPLEMENTS! I know some girls who are actually happy when they hear something like that. Wake up. Those statements degrade you. Men feel they can just say that to you because they don't respect you. They think of you as something less than what they are. You don't hear them saying that to the president Mrs. Gloria Macapagal Arroyo do you? And they never will because she is still a symbol of power and should be respected. They will never say that to Mother Theresa, Oprah, and other respectable women. When you hear something like that, report it.

Sexual harassment takes many forms. Basically, it is ANY unwelcome attention of a sexual nature directed to you. Here is the definition from wikipedia: "Sexual harassment is unwelcome attention of a sexual nature and is a form of legal and social harassment. It includes a range of behavior from seemingly mild transgressions and annoyances to actual sexual abuse or sexual assault. (Dziech et al 1990, Boland 2002) Sexual harassment is considered a form of illegal discrimination in many countries, and is a form of abuse (sexual and psychological) and bullying."

Simply touching you on ANY part of your body, even your shoulder, is sexual harassment. Seek a lawyer. You are eligible to claim a substantial amount of mone because of the damages inflicted on you. Comments on your semi private and private body parts are also sexual harassment. If you feel uncomfotable about an act or comment, you are probably being sexually harasses and don't even know it.

In the Philippines we do not have clear laws regarding sexual harassment. I think it includes the touching part, but not verbal harassment. Go on and report it anyway. To the management and to the law giving and law implementing bodies. Otherwise, how will these laws be created if there is no one reporting it? Silence means the problem doesn't exist. If the problem doesn't exist, why would there be a law created to combat something that doesn't exist. Speak up. You are the key to our own power and respectability. Worry about your job after you have proven your worth. There are millions of jobs out there. That is a shallow reason to let yourself be degraded. It's just a job. There are others. There is only one you.

6) Situation #6: You are a model/celebrity or pageant contestant and feel like you are being looked down on or exploited.

Go to your manager or the person in charged of you and together, speak to the people in charged of the current project you are involved in and explain the situation. Kindly tell them it mkes you unomforable. If they tell you to stop being sensitive, let go of the project. Not every opportunity is worth it. Not every opportunity is good for you.

In the US, victims always speak up and seek justice, that is why sexual harassment is becoming a thing of the past.

Also, when a guy shows you his privates, that is sexual harassment. There are so many forms of sexual harassment it's difficult to place exact parameters definition to it. Don't believe me? Go to youtube and search for sexual harassment. I came across a video where a wman was sitting on the bus wearing closed toe shoes. The guy beside her starts filming her toes and rfers to it as "toe cleavage." Read the comments. You'll see the reality that guys are turned on by everything and anything. I didn't even know there was such a thing as toe cleavage.

To some, the situations I discussed may seem obvious; but to some, especially young girls, this can affect their future and the self-worth they have for themselves and project to a world dominated by men. They want females to be subservient to them and have countess tactics to make sure we stay subservient.

The above are just some sample scenarios. The male Ego is a nightmare in this world. It is because of this ego that they feel the need to be above you, put you down so they feel better about themselves, and have all sorts of defense mechanisms like bragging about themselves to their friends, making you feel small, or preserving their self worth through denial. We females should be aware of these egotistical males. Some guys may not have such a big ego but a lot do.

Guys will sometimes try putting the blame on you saying "Beauty is a curse" or "You dress so provocatively, I thought you wanted me to come onto you." They can have a mountain of reasons to put the blame ON WOMEN. None of these excuses are valid. NONE. It's not a woman's fault if she is beautiful. It's not a woman's fault if she has a good body. A woman doesn't get to choose her own genes. BUT IT IS A MAN'S FAULT IF THEY EXPRESS ADMIRATION IN A DISRESPECTFUL WAY. It is their fault because it is something they choose to do or say that is directed to a person. There are other ways to express admiration like giving a perfectly respectful compliment or men can always choose to keep their mouths shut and keep the conversation professional.

If at anytime you feel heavy like there's an uncomfortable weight in any situation you are facing, then that's a sign to just run from it. Get away. If you're not comfortable at all or happy, then it's probably not for you.

Please note that I am not criticizing men in general. I am simply pointing out that men like in the situations above DO ineed exist and ladies should be aware. Guys, pass this message onto the females in your lives. Who knows, the information here may protect them from situations similar to those I mentioned. I do not mean to offend, only to protect and preserve.

It's a sick world out there so take a stand in protecting yourself. Noone will care more about you than you.

Note: Here is a link for a complete reference to sexual harassment according to Philippine laws. I can't say it's complete enough, but it covers the worst case scenarios. In my opinion, it was probably made so simple and so lacking because our country's politicians themselves are the greatest practitioners of harassment. I wouldn't be surprised if they made this "Act" just to comply with international law requirements. The penalty is so cheap (P10,000 to P20,000) and it doesn't cover verbal and social sexual harassment. It also hasn't been updated since it was made.

You may have heard the phrase "inner beauty" a lot already, but what does it really mean? Today I will tackle this all important vast concept. It's important that before you even try to beautify the outside, your "inside self" is happy and contented with who you are. Sometimes you won't be able to exactly identify who you are and that's ok. Just accept that you don't clearly know who you are. Just let it all go and be happy.

If you are like most women, you probably think that inner beauty or the beauty within a person has to do with being nice to others, kind, loving, and all the other traits considered as being good.

Here's another concept for you that I think goes much deeper than observable attitude: Your Inner Spirit.

What I mean by that is being conscious and aware of everything you say, do, think, act, and by being aware you are able to control these factors that may affect you or others around you. It may affect your life and how it goes through the paths you choose to take. By being able to control the potentially disastrous comments, acts, temper, wrong-doings, and the ever hyperactive EGO, and the always volatile emotions you may have, life gets lighter. Go a step further and be aware of your own thoughts and the energy/vibe you are projecting. Let your Inner Spirit live in the moment and appreciate what is in the present. Let go of the Past, however hurt you may have been. Take a dog or a bird for example. They seem to always live in the moment. Enjoying a bone. Enjoying a flight. If you happen to yell at a dog, they will still love you the same. After they have learned what you don't want them to do, they return to you with no resentment and with an ever wagging tail.

Be aware of your thoughts. When you start to think negative thoughts, tell that voice in your head that you are aware and those thoughts that the voice is projecting in your mind will serve no useful POSITIVE/HAPPY purpose. It will go away. You would be able to live in the present, instead of living in your head.

Your inner spirit needs positivism. That's where it will flourish. That's where it will thrive. Here's some of the things that will help you be more positive- therefore more happy so you can live in the moment:

1) Stop being jealous about everything. Example is a co-worker getting promoted when you think you deserved the promotion more.

2) Stop being envy. Example is feeling inadequate because your prom dress isn't at par with your classmates. Stop comparing.

3) Stop validating yourself. Example is caring about what other people think of you. Remember that "other people" are NOT YOU. You are yourself and we are all equal no matter the social standing. What other people think of you does not make you more or less than who you are.

4) Stop the gossiping. Gossip is a form of self validation. A need to prove yourself worthy or better than the person you are gossipping about. That is why gossip usually evolves around a person who has done something unacceptable. Have you ever heard people gossip about someone genuinely good? It's usually the office slut who is always the topic.

5) Stop complaining. A situation is only bad when you label it to be. However, if you label a problem as an opportunity to learn then it is no longer "bad." It becomes useful and positive. The mind and emotion are the ones which escalate a situation. A situation is just a situation. It can either turn to a problem if you perceive it to be, or an opportunity. It all depends on how you look at it.

6) Stop the Ego. It is said that when the ego is gone, love remains. The human ego is by far the most destructive. Spouses fight and noone wants to give in resulting in divorce. Who really knows good from bad anyway? In this day and age, the gap between the two seems to be thinning. Here's an example: Take the MMDA (my Filipino readers would know this, but for my international readers-- The MMDA is the Philippine's equivalent of special traffic enforcers). Along the Ayala-EDSA Intersection. I was coming from Ayala and I wanted to turn right to EDSA going Southbound. Usually, if you're turning right it doesn't matter if your light is red. Just turn whenever it's clear. Unless of course there's a sign that says "No right turn on Red Signal." There was no sign whatsoever so I went ahead and turned right. I was stopped by an MMDA. He told me that since that was the Ayala-EDSA intersection, I cannot turn right on Red and if the EDSA lane is in Green. I said "Huh? That's a lot of conditions. How was I supposed to know that? How was anyone supposed to know that this particular intersection had two conditions when there wasn't a single sign that informs drivers of those conditions?" I fought and yacked but I still got a ticket. Later that day, I called someone who was an "Auditor of the Ombudsman" to look at the situation. He called the MMDA office and asked them to put a sign there to inform the public of those conditions which were specific to that intersection only. The MMDA office person he spoke to asked him if he can let his "auditing" go. Turns out, that intersection was the top 1 income generating intersection in all of the Philippines and these MMDA have qoutas. They need to issue a certain number of tickets per month so the 2,000 plus MMDAs will have an income to take home to their families. It's so these 2,000 people can have a job. If they put a sign in that intersection noone would make a mistake and the MMDA would lose a sizable amount of their income and a lot of people will lose their job. So who was right in this situation? A single driver not wanting the ticket but has the right reason or the MMDA who won't put up the sign so 2,000 people will have a job? The MMDA side has the more noble cause. Otherwise, these people will find themselves unemployed and won't be able to send their children to school. If they don't go to school those kids might find themselves in poverty or lead a life of crime.

(Update, the MMDA now put up a sign that reads "No right turn on Red signal.")

We will never know the origin and the end of something especially when a lot of factors are involved. We can debate and disagree all we want and in the end be more confused rather than enlightened. So just let it go. Stop giving in to the hard-strung ego. Accept that there are things larger and more important and sometimes our human minds cannot grasp it anymore. When you are confused and at a loss, stop trying to think and figure it out. Just accept that you don't know. It's where knowledge ends and wisdom begins.

Those are just a few. Take time each day to notice the unnoticeable. When you look at your self in the mirror, have you ever felt a little weird that there's this reflection looking back at you and you're inside that body, or how you are able to move, or how still you can be? At that very moment, you become aware of your Inner Self existing in the present. Try it with a pet. Look at them. Really look at them. For some reason you feel that they love you and that they are "there" for you. You can sense their Being. Otherwise, you would never be able to say that they are there for you since they can't talk!
This Being and Spirit talk isn't really my forte. I just want to stress that finding happiness and contentment with yourself should be pre-requisite before you even try beautifying the outside. Beautifying the outside with no underlying substance won't really take you the whole mile. And acknowledging your Inner Self may help in finding that true happiness and peace within you.

Just how important is an image? Who cares if we go to work in flip flops? Who gives a rats ass if we're wearing makeup? I'm too tired or too lazy to put on decent makeup...

Today, I will talk about IMAGE. What it means to your inner self and to others. Does it really matter? How big of a deal is it?

I've been observing personal image as well as corporate image for a business. I will talk about personal image first.

When I was in middle school, only a few girls wore makeup. There was this one girl who I thought was a beautiful girl, and there was another not so pretty girl, but this girlwore makeup. Guys would talk abouther like she was the hottest thing on the planet. Some guys thought the first non-makeup-weaing girl was pretty, but didn't talk about her like they did the second girl. As I look at the yearbook now, the no-makeup girl really is prettier, but she didn't dress to impress or wear any makeup or accessories at all. The second girl is probably not half as pretty, but guess what? She dressed a little bit over the top. She wore makeup. She wore clothes other seventh graders wouldn' know where to buy. While our moms bought our clothes, it seemed like Jennifer Lopez was her shopping buddy. Some girls wanted to be her, some girls hated her, all the guys eyed her. This is what image can do. It can make the not-so-pretty seem larger than life. It makes a woman's hidden beauty come out and be appreciated. She created an image for herself and loved the results. Because of that image, she was easily recognizable, she was very popular, she projected a "high value" for herself, she was an icon of sorts.

It's basically the same for companies.Given two companies: a bank and a non-glamorous fertilizer store. Even if the fertilizer offerred 20% higher salary than the bank, most if not all would choose to work in the bank because of prestige and image. After all, what would your friends think if you told them you help sell fertilizer as opposed to managing accounts in a bank? Companies with good corporate image usually get the best applicants wanting to work in their company. This imageissue is just as important for companies as it is for ourselves, maybe even more. Today, it's all about image.

So try to wake up a little earlier to put on decent makeup. Do think about your clothes and wonder if they represent the image of the person you want to be and what you want the world to see. It's better to own less things but with good quality than own a lot that quickly becomes useless or tacky. Accessorize. If you want to stand out, go right ahead. If you know how to handle it, standing out and being noticed isn't so bad. Advantages and more opportunities might even come your way.

Hey hey hey! Pageant screenings for the October pageant of Turismo Pilipina 2008 is ongoing at the Rembrant Hotel in Quezon City every Saturday and Sunday 3PM-6PM. I have discovered the perfect concealer you can't find anywhere. A persons skin varies depending on his/her mood, the time she wakes up, length of sleep, what diet she's currently on, how she's feeling (sad, happy, agitated). It can vary on the climate of the place she's currently in, the weather, or even what color she's wearing because colors can reflect on our skin. All this means is that the skin tone varies in so many ways. Have you ever noticed that people tend to tell you're glowing when you're happy or you look pale when you're uneasy? It becomes the foundation or makeups job to give your face a definite color. But what if you have naturally blemish free skin and only wear concealer for undereyes or the tiny zit that suddenly popped up? That is why we don't recommend only one shade of concealer even if you wear foundation. Some foundations can 'detect' your shade and blends with your skin shade. Lets' get to the juice of this story...
So the perfect concealer is to combine Christian Dior Long Wearing Moisturizing Concealer 410 with Dermablend Chroma 3 Honey Beige in a small pallet. Eyeliner: Tips and Tricks

Here are some tips from Rona Berg, former beauty editor of The New York Times Magazine and was the editorial director of Elle magazine. She is the author of a book entitled “Beauty – The New Basics”

A) To make your eyes look Closer Together.

Stroke a light or medium neutral shade of eye shadow on the inner corner of your eyelids. Or use eyeliner to draw the line a bit thicker on the inner corner of the eye and stop the line where the outer corner of the eye stops.

B) To make your eyes look Farther Apart.

Take a matte shadow in a darker shade and stroke it outward and slightly upward, on the outer corners of the top and bottom lids. Or use eyeliner and start the line just a bit away from the inner corner of your eye. Make it slightly thicker toward the outer edge and extend it in a slightly upward curve.

C) To make your eyes look Bigger.

Remember, light tones protrude, so you want to bring light into your eyes. Stroke a neutral shadow in a light shade in the crease of your lid above your iris. If you want color, stroke the neutral on first- bone, vanilla, taupe- and then layer the color on top. It lights up the eye as if there were a light bulb behind the lid. Or stroke a light color on the lids, with a darker color in the crease and along the upper and lower lash lines. Or use eyeliner to follow the natural shape of the eye and draw a fine line at the base of the upper and lower lashes to give your eyes more definition. Illustration:

D) To make your eyes look Rounder.

Put eye shadow all around the edges of the upper and lower lids to make your eyes look rounder. Or use eyeliner to outline the eyes at the base of the lashes. As you move toward the outer corner, thicken and ‘wing’ the line upward ever so slightly.

E) To make the eyes more Oval.

Draw a fine line at the base of the lashes. Thicken it slightly in the middle of the lid, and draw it toward the outer corner to make your eyes appear more oval.

How To Apply Eyeliner to get Perfectly Lined Eyes

Perhaps eyeliner is one of the most basic cosmetics around. But this little wonder can be tricky to apply. Sometimes, a fraction of a millimeter in position or thickness can be the difference between mind-blowing and mind-boggling.
There are major eye differences from size, shape, and color and I will have suggestions for each.

Let’s begin.

Step 1: Observe your eyes.
Look at your eyes. Are they big, small, or just about normal? What color are they? Light or dark? This is useful if you want to use colored liners instead of plain black.

Step 2: Colored Eyeliners.
For light colored eyes with fair or light skin color, you can experiment with bright and pastel colored eyeliners. Light colored eyes can generally carry a variety of colors.
For those with dark eyes, certain colors can make us look sickly and unhealthy. Generally, when choosing colored eyeliners go for blue, navy, purple, AVOID Reds.

Step 3: Black Eyeliner.
As a general rule of thumb, black eyeliner looks good on any skin tone and any eye color. Plus you can add an eye shadow color of your choice to flatter the eyeliner. You can’t go wrong with black liner.

Step 4: Pencil, Retractable, and Liquid Eyeliner.
Each one of these liners produce different effects. My personal favourite is pencil. It’s easy to use; no training required, and gives you a defined, long-lasting, discreet, and natural look.
Retractables are creamier in consistency. They can smudge a bit if you have sweaty or oily eyes so I would recommend this to those who have dry skin around the eyes. This is a bit more dramatic than pencil. People would definitely be able to tell that you have eyeliner on. Great part is, you never have to sharpen. This is great for smudging.
Liquid eyeliner gives the most dramatic effect. You need to have a steady hand to utilize this well though. It would take moderate practice to master the application of liquid liner. It’s harder to remove if you make a mistake, but the end result is red-carpet amazing. This can transform you into a goddess.

Step 5: Find a comfortable hand position.
Take your left hand (if you’re right handed) and use your index finger to pull the eyelid of your right eye outwards to stretch the skin of your upper lash line. This will help the eyeliner go on more evenly. Rest your left wrist near your chin. With your right hand hold the eyeliner as you would a pencil or whatever feels comfortable for you. Rest your right wrist on top of your left hand. This will give you more control.
Do the exact opposite if you’re left-handed.
For the left eye, pull the eyelid outwards to the side while resting your left wrist near your chin. Rest the side of your right hand to the side of your left hand to get a steady hand. Find the hand positions most comfortable for you which would allow you to steadily apply the eyeliner.

Step 6: Applying Pencil or Retractable Liners.

Upper Lash Line.

If you’re using a pencil eyeliner, make sure that it is somewhat sharpened.
Close the eye you want to apply the eyeliner to. Start from the middle of your top lash line going out. After start, line from the inner lash line to the middle until the second line meets the first. Make sure your line is uniform enough and not too thick at the top and too thin on other areas. Uneven lines can change the shape of your eyes completely. So make sure it is uniform in thickness.
Generally, it is in the upper outer lash line that thicker lines are applied to open up the eyes more.
For those who want a more glamorous look but wants it to look effortless, apply eyeliner on the inner rim of your eyes but be very careful not to poke your eyes. Also, if you want to do this, check if your eyeliner is safe for the eyes. Smudge if you desire a softer look.

*Note: Good quality retractable eyeliners are hard to find. Some won’t color if you’ve gotten some eye shadow or powder at its tips. Some Smudge with a capital S. Some clump and some break. So far, from all the retractable eyeliners I’ve tried, Clinique Quickliner for Eyes in Really Black is the best. It even has a smudger at the other end for the smoky eye effect. It still paints your eyelash lines black even if you’ve gotten eye shadow all over it or if you’re applying it on top of eye shadow.

Lower Lash Line.

You may choose to skip putting eyeliner on your lower lash line. For those who want more oomph apply intelligently. Unless of course your goal is gothic. Apply sparingly and smudge along the lash line.
A great way to liven up the eyes, especially for those with small eyes, is to apply the eyeliner in the inner rim of your eyes.
Here’s an example where the liner is applied on the lash line.

*A technique!

Close the eye you are lining. That way you are lining as close to the lash line as possible, and at the same time you are lining the bottom lash line. Apply eyeliner exactly where your upper and lower lash lines meet. You’re eyelashes will also be darkened in the process. This would look so lovely and natural no one will be able to tell you’re wearing eyeliner. Voila! Dark eyes with hardly any eyeliner visible.
Here’s an example where the liner is applied closer or on the rim of the eye.

Step 7: Liquid Eyeliner.
Try to find a liquid eyeliner with the shortest brush. This would give you more control. Find your comfortable hand position. See step 5 for a suggestion. Apply as close to the lash line as possible and with uniform thickness. You can always add later. Start from the inner corner of the eyes and draw all the way to the end. If you want a cat-eye effect draw a wing slightly upwards in the outer corner. Do everything slowly and steadily. It takes quite a bit of practice. If you find you made a mistake, simply get a moist q-tip and erase. Make sure both eyes are symmetrically lined. Here’s an example of a beautifully made cat-eye.

Step 8: Smoky Eyes.
Smoky eyes can be achieved using eye shadow. But it can also be done using eyeliner. Gently stroke the outer corners of your eyes with your pencil or retractable eyeliner and use a smudger or brush to spread the color up to the outer eyelid and outer crease. Make sure to blend well for a not-too-made-up look. Do the same for your lower lash line. Smudge and blend. Smudge and blend. Do the smudging and blending with your eyes open so you will see how the end result will look like.Here are two vampilicious smoky eye examples. Study the pictures and try which smoky eye effect suits you best.
a. Sultry
b. Elegant

Though these ladies both sport the smoky eye look, notice how letter A's shadow goes almost all the up to the brow bone while B is more refined. Never pair the kind of smoky eye letter A has with strong red lipstick. Nude lips will complement this kind of smoky eye better.

Meeting Your Man’s Other Woman... And Defeating Her With Your Dignity Intact

Now some of you may be wondering what the title means and what in the world do I mean by defeating the other woman. If you’ve never found yourself to be in the painful situation of having your guy cheat on you, congratulations! You’re one of the lucky few. As for the rest of the women in the world, this probably happened once, or several times. If you’re unlucky enough, you may even know who your guy’s other woman is which can definitely put a face on your already growing disappointment or anger.
The guy stealers maybe called by different derogatory names such as home-wreckers, mistresses, and more. Now some of them know perfectly well that your guy is in a relationship or is married but they carry on with their own selfish reasons. But some of them may not know that your guy is in a relationship or is married. Some of these women are looking for the companionship and the life you have while some are looking for something else. Some of these women are looking for love in the wrong places, some are just looking for trouble. Some may even have the nerve to challenge you to meet with them even after they’ve ruined your home and family. This is the situation my friend found herself in. We'll call her Agie. The truth is, it takes two for a deception to come to fruition and your guy is a part of it. If you are in this situation, the sooner you accept it, the sooner you can move on. Of course this predicament is much tougher for women with kids such as Agie. Let’s call her husband’s mistress Maya.
There are numerous factors why cheating happens and why marriages fail. I won’t try to dive into that now. Maya sent Agie numerous text messages challenging her to meet. This sent shudders down Agie’s spine. You see she had previously read all of Maya’s texts to her husband including the one where Maya describes her figure in inches. We know that a mother’s to do list never ends. It’s very easy for women like Agie to lose herself with the everyday job of being a mom and a wife. After more than a decade of motherhood, her figure wasn’t too good. Needless to say our unmarried-with-two kids Maya retained her youthful figure and was confident enough to challenge Agie.
Agie couldn’t back down. The answer? Shape up.
From that day on Agie made the decision to turn back the clock. To bring back her 18-year old figure. Her college girl glow. Her single girl beauty.
To some, chasing beauty is vanity. But for some, it is a source of strength. A source of confidence. A longing to bring back what you once had and refuse to succumb to depression no matter how hopeless a situation may seem. Every day, Agie’s story is repeated. But it’s not every day that women find inspiration in the life they’re in.
After Agie loses 75 pounds, she will continue onto makeup.
