How to avoid dry skin

Dry skin is extremely common problem especially during cold months. Skin might feel tight and painful, most of the time it look dull or red or flaky. Worst of all is the discomfort and the itchiness it cause. But there are ways how to avoid drying of skin.

On personal hygiene:

Avoid long bathing times and use mild soap with high moisturizing formula. Use soft towel or loofah and avoid too much scrubbing.

After taking a bath, put moisturizing lotion all over your body, make sure to put lotion generously during cold months. Try to look for hypoallergenic, dermatologist approved and non irritating cosmetics that really works for your skin type.

On diet:

Personal hygiene is not enough you should also watch your diet, try avoid caffeine and alcohol consumption since these have diuretic properties. Make sure you are taking in 8 glasses of water per day and try to add omega-3 fatty acids on your diet by consuming more cold-water fish, walnuts, and flax seeds.

Take note of this:

Untreated dry skin can sometimes lead to dermatitis, which is the inflammation of the skin, swelling, and infection. Prevention is better than cure! =)
